In Miami, concrete homes showed significant savings in heating and cooling costs compared to the code-matching wall. The best performing walls were flat-panel ICF and sandwich panels; they performed 36% better than code, 10% better than wood walls and 14% better than steel walls. Cast-in-place walls also showed savings: 30 to 33% better than code-matching, 4% to 7% better than wood walls, and 10 to 13% better than steel.
