Results for Chicago demonstrate that energy cost savings and HVAC size reductions from concrete residential construction are not as significant as in other climates, and may be detrimental in some cases. Flat Panel ICF walls were the best, out-performing code walls by 13% in Chicago. Both conventional wood and steel walls were generally equivalent to code walls in thermal performance.
